Halloween Aftermath

Halloween wasn’t as fun as it used to be. Only Chestnut had a costume this year. Bennyppe made it — I think they were aiming for an Arab princess look. :) haha. She was so cute! I thought she was going to burst out of the dress, she’s getting a bit chubby. Lookie: click here. And yes, that’s our Christmas tree. XD

I made about 60 salami, bologna, ham, and hotdog rolls for dinner. Gaaah! Everyone loves it (especially the kids) when I make them but I’m getting a bit sick of them. And the ice cream! I seriously can’t understand why everyone likes it.1 At first I thought they were just being nice2 but then they all request for tubs. haha.

  1. Too sweet for my taste.
  2. It was a Chemistry experiment after all.

Water Damage

A few weeks ago, my mom and I drove through a neighborhood where the houses had windows that stood only a few inches above the road level. She told me that it was because most of the houses there were from the Spanish Colonial era and most of them weren’t remodeled even after the roads were all elevated. Now I wonder how they fare during the typhoon season (we only have summer/dry and rainy/wet seasons here). I don’t think their doors and windows are watertight. eep.

That’s one of the reasons I’ve never wanted a house with a basement. I can only imagine what sort of problems could arise from a flooded basement and faulty plumbing. But these could all be seen to while the house is being constructed - ensuring that the foundation is laid as sturdily as possible. If the process is rushed and the cement hasn’t been allowed enough time to set, it could cause cracks to form.

Now if you do have rooms below street level, you could always pay for basement waterproofing coating. You can easily protect your windows, walls and floors from water damage. Or if you already have cracks on your basement walls that could allow water to leak through, you can have them repaired and also get drains replaced.

Still, I would rather not have a basement. It might be because of the horror and slasher movies I’ve seen where all the gory stuff takes place down under but… Well, maybe it’s just me. LOL.

Get to know yourself better

I think we had an exercise like this back in college. But it was longer, with a lot more questions. I got essentially the same results.

Your view on yourself:
You are down-to-earth and people like you because you are so straightforward. You are an efficient problem solver because you will listen to both sides of an argument before making a decision that usually appeals to both parties.

The type of boyfriend you are looking for:
You are a true romantic. When you are in love, you will do anything and everything to keep your love true.

Your readiness to commit to a relationship:
You are ready to commit as soon as you meet the right person. And you believe you will pretty much know as soon as you might that person.

The seriousness of your love:
You are very serious about relationships and aren’t interested in wasting time with people you don’t really like. If you meet the right person, you will fall deeply and beautifully in love.

Your views on education:
Education is very important in life. You want to study hard and learn as much as you can.

The right job for you:
You have plenty of dream jobs but have little chance of doing any of them if you don’t focus on something in particular. You need to choose something and go for it to be happy and achieve success.

How do you view success:
You are afraid of failure and scared to have a go at the career you would like to have in case you don’t succeed. Don’t give up when you haven’t yet even started! Be courageous.

What are you most afraid of:
You are afraid of things that you cannot control. Sometimes you show your anger to cover up how you feel.

Who is your true self:
You are mature, reasonable, honest and give good advice. People ask for your comments on all sorts of different issues. Sometimes you might find yourself in a dilemma when trapped with a problem, which your heart rather than your head needs to solve.
